30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge, Day 1

January 2016 begins with another Challenge.  Each time I challenge myself I come away with at least one painting I feel very proud to show.  Sometimes life gets too crazy and I can only finish part of the challenge, but trying is the point.

Technical issues are already making me grind my teeth, so bear with me as I try to get everything smoothed out.

My first painting for the month is a Plein Air artist participating in Paint Annapolis at the City Dock, affectionately known as Ego Alley.  One of my favorite things about Annapolis is seeing all the great boats that dock right in the historic district, along Main Street.  If you've never been here, you should come.

The chilly air of Autumn touches the water that has been warmed by and through the summer sun.  Like a gentle kiss that grows a passion in the heart.  The heart grows until it is ready to burst.  The nearly bursting heart touches the mind and the mind reels.

Enchanter -- David C. Roy

Enchanter

David C. Roy makes wooden Kinetic sculpture in Connecticut.  Kinetic sculpture is one that moves through the force of wind, solar or with a touch of the hand.  Roy's works are wound (think of a music box) and then continue to move for various lengths of time -- some as long as 24 hours.

Kinetic sculpture is absolutely fascinating to me.  Art that moves.  Interacting with art (as opposed to simply viewing art) is something I would love to explore in the future.

Enchanter -- New Feature. What is Enchanter?

I spend a lot of time looking at the websites and works of other artists.  Sometimes for inspiration of one type or another.  Intrigued by their use of light or brush technique, but more often just because I love art.

I would like some way to keep a list of these artists so I can refer to them again later.  Probably the best way will be to document them here at least until I run out of time...again.

New Logo

Have you considered having your own logo, but don't know where to start?  I checked out a couple of online companies that will make a logo for you and they make the process really easy.  Since I was kind of at a loss in the process, I decided to go with LogoTournament.com, where I could look at choices from different designers and then choose what I liked.

Logo Tournament asks a lot of great questions about what you want from a logo, whether you have ideas of your own, what you'd like your logo to say in terms of the psychology of color and then you tell them how much you want to pay and amazing designers from around the globe send you their ideas based on your preferences.  It was not an easy choice for me.  I received a few great designs that I would never have considered and I worked with a couple of designers who had a concept I liked but one thing or another needed tweaking, such as font style.

I am beyond happy with my design.
